2016 RIAFP Leadership Team

The RIAFP would like to welcome you to our organization and our State!  Please know we are your resource to assist you in achieving your professional goals.

If you are interested in playing an active role in the RIAFP you are welcome to join one of our three committees open to all members:

The Education Committee supports the Continuing Medical Education of practicing Family Physicians.  We support medical student education and the training of family physicians through family medicine residency programs. The education committee also supports and promotes research in the field of Family Medicine.  Every year the education committee plans the annual RIAFP conference.

The Membership Committee is here to assist members with everything needed to succeed as Family Physicians in the state of RI.

We offer assistance with:

  Networking in the RI medical community
  Job searches
  Negotiating a contract
  Office logistics
  Taking the family medicine boards
  Becoming a Patient Centered Medical Home
  Selecting and implementing an electronic health record
  Malpractice insurance

The Advocacy Committee educates and promotes legislative efforts and advocates for the health of the people of RI and initiates legislative and health policy initiatives which will enhance the ability of family physicians to provide excellent, cost-effective, continuous care for patients.  We work with the Rhode Island Medical Society on state health and wellness legislation issues.  We travel to the AAFP yearly Family Medicine Congressional Conference to meet with federal legislators. Our Delegates travel to the AAFP Congress of Delegates each year to work on AAFP policy issues.

If you would like to join one of the above committees please email Karen Dalton, the RIAFP executive director ().

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.  I look forward to meeting you.
